2020s
As ASAM approaches its seventieth birthday in 2024, there is much to reflect upon, much to be proud of, and much that points toward a bright future.
ASAM has a vibrant membership of physicians and nonphysician clinicians, researchers, educators, and students. It has a stable financial status, a thirty-year-old endowment fund, and talented and dedicated staff. Its physician members have multiple paths they can follow to become subspecialty certified. Through the and its primary specialty society affiliate, the American College of Preventive Medicine, ASAM has developed important, strategic partners within the world of prevention. It has a strong presence in the AMA, with two delegates and two alternates in the House of Delegates and, as of 2020, an ASAM member serving on the AMA Board of Trustees.
